I have 2 new hives now, and this past weekend I went to work with them, but have noticed they are much more aggressive. I got attacked, and had about 6 stings through my beesuit!
I am not sure what happened, maybe it's the stress of them being moved to a new location?

Cool, (not the getting stung bit, the two new hives bit) you got any more pictures of you at work with them? I'm still reading the books and being a wannabee. Not really got anywhere that I can put them yet unfortunately. But when I do find somewhere I should now a thing or two after all the books I'll have read on the subject.

Hi Gaz-W, I do have some more pics. I'll try to post them online today, if you want ( and anybody else that's interested ), I can send you an invite to an online photo album maybe, I'll have to decide which site I want to use though. Just PM your e-mail address.
*EDIT* Here's my album, I haven't posted everything yet, and it's not organized into chronological order yet.

Just click on the above photo to go to the album.
BTW, I am getting registered with the state, the bee inspector is coming Wednesday. I also registered with the Florida State Beekeepers.
I can say that "attack" scared me a little, LOL. When I checked on them yesterday, I was really bundled up!

Why are you getting registered then? Is it a legal requirement or voluntary? What's the reasoning behind it?

Love the pics in the album, cheers :-)

Yes, it's actually required. I know a lot of people actually don't bother, but you can be fined if you don't. I think it has something to do with diseases that can be spread between beehives, etc... . Unfortunately, they put your name & address on a list that the public can access.
I will get some freebies out of it though: literature, etc... .

Thanks. I'll be posting more at the album soon.

Cool, freebees are always good :-)

I'll be looking out for the new pics then :-)

Do you need to get insurance in case people get stung and try to sue? Or is the states not as litigious as the TV would have us believe.

I've heard that some beekeepers have insurance, but it's not mandatory yet.
